How to Open a Credit Card in Metrobank Philippines
Online banking is very popular nowadays because of the accessibility of internet connection and due to people's need for easy and convenient ways of doing things including banking.
If you have a Metrobank savings account and you want to make your banking transactions fast and convenient, you should register in Metrobank Direct or Metrobank Online Banking.
What is Metrobank Direct?
Metrobank Direct is the online banking facility of Metrobank Philippines that allows users to do different things online including:
- checking account balance
- paying bills
- transferring funds
- and more!
Who Can Enroll in Metrobank Direct
All customers with a Metrobank Debit, Regular ATM, Prepaid, and Metrobank Credit Card can enroll in the Metrobank Online Banking facility.
If your Metrobank account did not come with an ATM card, you would need to go to your branch of account for enrollment.
How to Enroll in Metrobank Online Banking
Step 1 – Metrobank Website
Using your computer or smartphone with internet connection, open the Metrobank website by typing https://www.metrobank.com.ph on your internet browser like Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox, or Safari.
Step 2 – Enroll Now!
To enroll your Metrobank account for the first time, click Enroll now! on the upper right portion of the page.
Step 3 – Select Metrobank Account
To select an account that you would like to enroll, click the drop down arrow and select ATM Card, then click Continue.
Step 4 – Enrollment Form
Fill out the Metrobank Online Banking Enrollment Form.
Reminders:
- User ID – must contact at least 8 alphanumeric characters (letters and numbers)
- ATM card – number must contain 19 numbers (your card number contains 16 numbers, then add three zeroes (000) at the end to make it 19 numbers)
- ATM PIN – It consists of 6 digits and it is the same PIN that you use for your ATM card. Take note that the numbers on the keypad are reshuffled randomly, so make sure to choose the correct numbers for your PIN.
- Cardholder name – This field does not accept special characters. If you have a dot (.) on your name like Ma., just don't type the dot.
- Date of Birth – follow the correct pattern. For example, if your birthday is January 11, 1991, you should type 01/11/1991.
- Email Address – enter a valid and active email address. For example, girlie@gmail.com.
- Mobile Number – enter a valid mobile number starting with 63. For example, if your number is 09201234567, you should type 639201234567. You change the first digit 0 to 63.
To avoid issues when enrolling in Metrobank Online Banking, follow the instructions carefully.
Step 5 – Confirm Enrollment Details
After you have filled out the form, click Continue, then Review your enrollment details. If everything is correct, click Confirm. If you want to change/modify something, click Back.
Step 6 – Activation Link and Temporary Password
Check your email inbox and look for the Activation Link for your Metrobank Online Banking Enrollment. The email also contains your temporary password.
Click the activation link or copy-paste it to your internet browser, then enter your temporary password.
Please take note that the activation link is valid for 3 days only. If you forgot to activate it within 3 days, you would need to request for another activation link by contacting Metrobank through the following options:

Step 7 – Agreement
Read the Terms and Conditions of Metrobank Online Banking, and click I Agree to proceed to the next step.
Step 8 – Challenge Questions
To add to the security of your online banking account, you need to nominate challenge questions and enter the correct answers. Make sure you know the answers personally. You will use it later on for verification purposes.
Step 9 – One-Time Password
Another security feature of Metrobank Direct is the OTP or One-Time Password. Initially, Metrobank will send the OTP to you registered mobile number.
Enter the OTP when prompted.
Please take note that the validity of OTP will only last for 20 minutes. Additionally, you can only regenerate OTP 3 times. Otherwise, you need to repeat the whole process again, which starts from Step 1.
Step 10 – Change Password
Change the temporary password that was sent to you via email. Update it with the password that you will be using whenever you login to your Metrobank Online Banking Account.
Tips to Avoid Issues with your Metrobank Direct Account
- Take note of your User ID and Password in a safe notebook or file on your computer. In case you forgot your login credentials, you know where to find it.
- Always type https://www.metrobank.com.ph to access the login page of Metrobank Direct Online Banking. Don't just click on any link that you received on your email or from other websites.
- Never share your login information to anyone.
- Always log out your online banking account after your transaction.
- When transferring funds online, always double or even triple check the account details especially the account number of the recipient or merchant.
What to do if you forgot your User ID or Password
If you forgot your User ID for your Metrobank Online Banking account, here's what you should do:
- Go to https://www.metrobank.com.ph
- On the login box, click the Forgot User ID link.
- A page will open where you have to supply some details.
- An email will be sent to you with the User ID.
If you forgot your Password for your Metrobank Online Banking account, here's what you should do:
- Go to https://www.metrobank.com.ph
- On the login box, click the Forgot Passwordlink.
- A page will open where you have to supply some details.
- An email will be sent to you with a temporary password.
- Once you login using the temporary password, the system will immediately prompt you to do Change Password.
